Renting doesn't rule you out. Many VEU air conditioning upgrades happen in rental homes. The key is getting your landlord on board.
Step one: get permission in writing
Installing air conditioning is a change to the property, so you'll need your landlord's written consent before anything is installed. If you rent through an agent, ask them to pass the request on.
Who pays?
That's between you and your landlord. Sometimes the landlord pays because it adds value to the property. Sometimes the tenant pays, or it's shared. Either way, there's a minimum customer co-payment under the VEU program, and your quote will show exactly what it is.
What to send your landlord
- The quote, showing the full price, VEU discount and co-payment
- The system type and where the indoor and outdoor units will go
- That it's installed by licensed tradespeople with a workmanship guarantee
- That the product comes with at least a five-year warranty
